EPA’s Indoor Environments Program is a voluntary program under the Office of Air and Radiation. At the EPA Region 7 office, the program is in the Air and Waste Management Division. The Indoor Environments Program is responsible for such programs as Asthma, Building Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), Environmental Tobacco Smoke, IAQ in Schools (Tools for Schools), Mold and Radon.

The American public spends 90% of their time in buildings. The accumulation of pollutants in buildings can present exposure risks not found outside. EPA estimates that indoor pollutant levels can be 2 to 3 times greater than those found outdoors. For this reason, EPA through the Indoor Environments Program provides the public information on ways to control or eliminate these risks in places where they live, work and play.
You can reach EPA Region 7’s Indoor Environments Program Coordinator, Greg Crable, at (913)-551-739, toll-free at 1-800-223-0425 or by e-mail: crable.gregory@epa.gov
